The NFPA 54: National Fuel Gas Code is the field's most reliable source for general safety criteria for the installation and operation of fuel gas piping systems, appliances, equipment, and related accessories. Fully up-to-date with current techniques and products, the 2006 edition contains important changes and improvements that increase fire protection and reduce the risk of explosions.

Examples of how the 2006 NFPA 54 promotes public and fire safety include:

• New data helps you properly size longer installations. Dozens of pipe sizing tables have been extended with information for all piping up to 2,000 feet.
• A first-time requirement addresses support of rooftop piping to protect against wind damage.
• Revised requirements for appliance shutoff valves allow manifold systems with all shutoff valves in one location up to 50 feet from the most remote appliance.
• Definitions are organized by categories so you can find what you need fast.
• Chapters dealing with piping, installation, and venting are grouped together for ease of use.
• Other revisions make the Code consistent with the 2005 National Electrical Code®, the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code™ and other related documents.

Annexes provide "how-to" advice about sizing and capacities of gas piping, and sizing of venting systems serving appliances. You'll also find a suggested method of checking for leakage as well as suggested emergency procedures for gas leaks. More than 800 diagrams and graphics clarify concepts.
