Help ensure water supplies are prepared for fire risks and hazards with NFPA 24, Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances.
Fire protection system designers, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and other personnel can use the 2022 edition of NFPA 24, Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances, to stay up to date with the latest requirements governing private fire service mains and private fire hydrants.

An item was added to the standard\'s scope that NFPA 24 does not apply to dry fire hydrants used for drafting.
In Chapter 5, a requirement was added to clarify that a single fire department connection can supply multiple buildings where approved by the AHJ.
In Chapter 6, alternate distance criteria were added for post indicator valves and backflow preventors.
In Chapter 10, a new section was added to clarify that the flush rates of NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection, need to be used where a fire pump is connected to the water supply.
A new section was added to provide an alternate cleaning procedure in place of traditional flushing.
New annex material was added to help determine ice thickness where water is taken from a source exposed to freezing conditions.
