Description of BS 5935:1980 1980

This standard covers the dimensional and constructional characteristics for toroidal cores wound from strips of magnetically soft steel or alloy having a thickness of between 0.003 mm and 0.35 mm. It includes standard ranges of main dimensions and recommendations for strip thickness, core protection, marking and packing.

NOTE All general factors on strip-wound cores are covered in this standard. More particular information, for example, on tolerances of cores and recommendations for application, may be found in national standards.

Dimensions of toroidal cores made from magnetic oxides or ferromagnetic powder are given in IEC Publication 525: Dimensions of Toroids made of Magnetic Oxides or Iron Powder.



Specifies dimensional and constructional characteristics for toroidal cores wound from strips of magnetically soft steel or alloy over the thickness range 0.003 mm to 0.35 mm. Establishes standard ranges of main dimensions and gives guidance on strip thickness, core protection, marking and packing.
