Description of BS 5771:1981 19811.1 This European Standard specifies capacities of glass and round rigid metal containers for the packaging of preserves (and semi-preserves) of vegetable products1) (fruit, vegetables, tomatoes, potatoes) for human consumption. 1.2 Excluded from this standard are containers for pre-packaging jams, marmalades, chestnut paste, soups, sauces, baby foods, fruit and vegetable juices and all frozen and dried vegetable products. Also excluded are vent-hole and à décollage’ metal containers. Specifies capacities of glass and round ridged metal containers for the packaging of preserves of vegetable products for human consumption.
