Description of BS 1098-2:1977 1976

This British Standard relates to bushes to be fitted to jigs for the purpose of guiding metric twist drills and reamers as specified in BS 328-1 and BS 122-2 respectively.

Provision is made for the following types of bush:

  1. press fit bushes, which may be either headed or headless (plain);

  2. renewable bushes, fixed type;

  3. renewable bushes, slip type;

  4. liners, which may be either headed or headless (plain);

  5. renewable bushes in which the head details of the fixed type and of the slip type may be incorporated into one bush at the manufacturer’s discretion.

Jig bushes dimensioned in imperial units are dealt with in Part 1 of this standard.



Dimensions and tolerances for headed and headless press fit bushes, fixed and slip type renewable bushes and headed and headless liner bushes for use with drills and reamers. Design, surface texture, hardness, concentricity of bore with outside diameter and roundness of bore.
