Description of ASTM-F1350 2008ASTM F1350 - 08Standard Specification for Wrought 18Chromium-14Nickel-2.5Molybdenum Stainless Steel Surgical Fixation Wire (UNS S31673)Active Standard ASTM F1350 | Developed by Subcommittee: F04.12 Book of Standards Volume: 13.01 ASTM F1350Abstract This specification covers UNS S31673 chromium-nickel-molybdenum wrought annealed stainless steel surgical fixation wires. The wires should conform to the required values of tensile strength and elongation. Wire surfaces should be processed to minimize tool marks, nicks, scratches, cracks, cavities, spurs, and other imperfections that would impair wire serviceability. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers the chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical requirements for the manufacture of wrought 18 chromium-14 nickel-2.5 molybdenum stainless steel in the form of surgical fixation wire. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The inch-pound values in parentheses are for information only.
