Improving Environments with Sustainable Recycled Rubber Flooring, 2024
CEU: 0.125 | CEU Code: RE-EN-168503-0925

Rubber has been recycled for more than a century and used in recycled rubber flooring for over 65 years. Over this time, it has been proven to be a durable and flexible product that improves numerous aspects of the built environment while benefiting the natural environment. This course examines the sustainability attributes of recycled rubber flooring, how rubber is recycled, how it is used to make flooring, its health and safety benefits, and where to use and not use the product. The course also includes an overview of how recycled rubber flooring can be used to meet a number of USGBC's LEED v4 BD+C and WELL Building Standard v2 credit requirements.

Learning Objectives

  • Recall the sustainability attributes of recycled rubber flooring when choosing flooring materials.
  • Determine why, how, when, and where to install recycled rubber flooring.
  • Improve living, working, and learning environments with the use of recycled rubber flooring.
  • Increase green building performance and recall LEED v4 BD+C and WELL Building Standard v2 credits to which rubber flooring may contribute.

Faculty BIO

Bill Neifert has over 25 years of experience in the floor covering industry. He has a proven track record of innovation and leadership in sales and a demonstrated capacity to provide comprehensive technical support for virtually all resilient floor coverings. His sharp mind, keen eye, passionate drive, and kind spirit catapulted his career forward at Gerbert Ltd, TO Market, and now REGUPOL America. He has appeared on PBS as a technical advisor and company spokesman in the American Environmental Review series hosted by Morley Safer. Bill joined REGUPOL America in 2019 as the Director of Commercial Sales Division, North America.
