Bollards for Protection: The Importance of Crash Testing, 2024

1-800-Bollards Vehicle barriers are needed to protect property and occupants against various threats, including wayward drivers, accidental impacts, smash-and-grab burglaries, and vehicle-ramming attacks. Given the various barriers available, it is crucial to understand how to evaluate and select a perimeter security solution that suits each application. This course reviews the types of barriers and their related testing and performance standards to help ensure the right product is specified for the area it is intended to protect. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the measures of hostile vehicle mitigation and the methods to reduce the vulnerability of a site against vehicle-ramming attacks.
  • Define the types of active and passive barriers, the classification of barriers, and the selection considerations that help.
  • Determine the optimum solution to protect people, buildings, and property.
  • Recall the high-impact and low-impact crash testing standards for barriers.
  • Describe the applications and role of security bollards in maintaining safe urban areas.

Faculty BIO

I started in sales in 1982. I began my bollard career in 2004 with Calpipe Security bollards and worked my way up to Vice President of Sales & Marketing through 2014. In 2015, I started 1-800-Bollards and, as President, the company has grown substantially year after year.
