Precast Concrete Pavers and Roof Deck Systems, 2024

Wausau Tile Inc. Precast concrete pavers and roof deck systems enable designers to deliver on aesthetics and design objectives while achieving safety and durability requirements. Patented roof deck systems allow for the creation of safe and stable roof deck patios and green roofs that maintain sustainability requirements. This course examines the raw materials used in these systems, reviews the different finishes available, and discusses different paver applications and their methods of installation. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain how methods of pressing precast concrete pavers, such as hydraulic machine pressing or vibration compaction, contribute to the pavers' superior performance, exceeding industry standards and ensuring users' safety and an above-average life span of the products.
  • Identify different applications for pressed pavers to be either used on grade or incorporated in a roof deck system and describe unique locking down systems and their role in promoting safety.
  • Discuss the different installation methods available and which are recommended for certain installations.
  • Discover how customization of concrete pavers with color, finish, size, and thickness enables designers to achieve design and safety goals simultaneously.

Faculty BIO

Rob Mulry began his career with Wausau Tile in 2007 as a Site Furnishings project manager. Since then, he's worked in our Paving and Terrazzo department as a project manager while also being our Senior Technical Product Manager for all product lines. In 2019, he was promoted to Paving Manager where his leadership skills began to shine, and in 2022, the Terrazzo Tile department came under his management. Rob's commitment to continued learning and growth, matched with his forward-thinking style, has helped Wausau Tile bring multiple new and exciting products to the market over the years. His leadership and innovation will continue to keep Wausau Tile at the forefront of product offerings while providing the highest standards of quality and customer service.
