Furniture Power for the Hospitality Market, 2024

Legrand Power and charging requirements for hospitality facilities are changing radically and rapidly. This course examines the options for and benefits of supplying power and charging outlets in walls, furniture, headboards, nightstands, public seating, and public gathering spaces, including outdoor areas, as well as the applicable codes for furniture-based power outlets. The course concludes with an overview of the benefits of occupancy sensors and auto-off switches in guest rooms and the installation requirements to comply with energy and electrical codes. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the benefits of furniture-based power and charging devices.
  • Identify and apply the codes that are relevant to furniture-based power and charging devices.
  • Ensure that furniture-based power and charging meet ADA requirements if applicable.
  • Identify the most appropriate design and locations for power and charging outlets when designing hospitality facilities.

Faculty BIO

Nancy has worked in the interior design industry for over twenty-five years, starting in textiles at F. Schumacher, Cowtan & Tout, and Larsen and working with Edelman Leather/Knoll immediately prior to starting with Legrand. She has also worked with commercial office interiors at a Steelcase dealership as well as in residential design, furnishings, and lighting while representing Grange Furniture, Dedon, and Visual Comfort.



Nancy has led the hospitality initiative at Legrand for over ten years, working closely with all major brands, owner/developers, and interior design firms in delivering the best in guest experience while helping owners closely manage their operating expenses. Her most recent projects include integrating Internet of Things technology in guest rooms and public spaces as part of the guest room management system and PMS. Nancy is a member of NEWH, IIDA, and AAHOA.
